Craig Jaster (b.1959) is an American musician and visual artist who works in collage. Collaborating with an ever-changing palette of paper and other materials salvaged from the world beyond the studio, he is driven by curiosity and the materials before him in a practice of playful, persistent trial and error, where happenstance and intention meet. As in jazz, improvisation and collaboration breathe life and energy into the work. The textured, layered surfaces reflect the physicality of this approach, and the enigmatic accretions and juxtapositions of images and text fragments, like dreams, offer both artist and viewer a place to wonder.
He is based in New Hampshire, USA and Maremma, Italy, and is a member of the Italian Collagists Collective and the New Hampshire Art Association.
